Why might a scientist studying evolution be interesting in howthe environment has changed over time

    Because they are studying evolution and without first studying the change in environment they can not do anything

    Changes in the environment will be reflected in evolutionary traits in the animals and plants over time. For example, if the climate of an environment got colder over time, the animals and plants would evolve to survive better in cold temperatures, with traits such as thicker fur or more moisture retention in plants.
