You and your partner are caring for a critically injured patient. your partner is controlling severe bleeding from the patient's lower extremities as you attempt ventilations with a bag-valve mask. after repositioning the mask several times, you are unable to effectively ventilate the patient. you should:

    Oh this is a hard one ... If you are a paramedic your scope of practice would include securing the airway with many different instruments and airways. However if you are an EMT you may find yourself screwed ... The only thing you are capable of is continued Ventilations while you ask for additional ALS. Never go above and beyond your scope of practice.
