What is the biological risk of using salt on icy roads in parts of the country that have a cold winter season?

    The biological risk of using salt on roads that are icy in country that have a cold winter season would be that the salt would have a risk of leeching in the ground and would create a hypertonic system for plants. With this system, the water in the plant cells would leave the cell resulting to the shrinking of the cells which is not a favorable condition for cells.
