    Explanation: Both animals are extremely territorial and aggressive toward one another. Lions have been known to kill hyenas, and a lion entering a hyena's territory is dealt with quickly and aggressively by the one guarding the den. They constantly compete with one another for food and or territory. The animals also kill each other's young and chase each other. They have a competitive type of relationship.
