Why is the amniotic fluid important to the embryo or foetus?

    When the fetus swallows the amniotic fluid, it is practicing using and developing the digestive system. It also keeps the cord from being squeezed too hard, which could be a problem if it does get squeezed. This is why the amniotic fluid is important
