Bigger organisms have more cells. They do not have bigger cells. Bigger cells are more inefficient and less effective. The size of a cell is the same from the smallest organism to the largest animal but have different energy requirements based on the size of the animal. All cells are basic building blocks of an organism and their metabolic rates differ according to where they are found in the organism. The size of an animal or organism also determines how long the cells in the animal or organism live.
