A concentration gradient is how to particles in a solution move from areas of high solute concentration to low solute concentration. This is used in cellular respiration within the Electron Transport Chain as a concentration gradient forms in which hydrogen ions diffuse out of the matrix space by passing through ATP synthase. If you need further clarification don't hesitate to ask.
