    The answer is water

Energy from ATP could be released by hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is a breakdown (lysis) of a molecule by react it with water (hydro). The reaction should make the ATP (adenosine triphosphate) lose one of its phosphate, producing an ADP (adenosine diphosphate). This phase doesn't need oxygen so it could be used in anaerob condition.
