    d. We would not make enough ATP to meet our energy requirements P

    Explanation:

Through respiration, oxygen has is inhaled and CO2 is released out of the body. The inhaled oxygen is delivered to body cells along with blood. The cells consume oxygen gas during cellular respiration. Cellular respiration is the process of oxidation of nutrients in the presence of oxygen to form ATP. Oxygen serves as a terminal electron acceptor in cellular respiration.

If there is oxygen scarcity in the body, some of the cells such as muscle cells perform lactic acid fermentation to meet the energy demand. However, fermentation produces only 2 ATPs per glucose as compared to around 36 ATP molecules produced by glucose oxidation through cellular respiration. In the absence of oxygen, body cells would not be able to perform cellular respiration and the body's energy demand would not be met.
