    Studies have shown that having a defribrillator available increases the survival rate of sudden cardiac arrest from 6% to 74%. AED is used on heart attack victims to terminate abnormal rhythm in the heart. If a defribrillator is used within three to five minutes of the cardiac arrest, survival rate of the victim increase from 5% to about 74%.
