    The porosity of an object is the ratio of the volume of voids within an object to the ratio of the total volume of the object. During this procedure, the water occupies the spaces in the soil. Thus, the volume of water within the soil is:

    400 - 150 = 250 ml

    The total volume of the soil is 500 ml.

    Porosity = (void volume / total volume) * 100

    Porosity = (250/500) * 100
