    Plasma membrane of the cell is generally semipermeable in nature. In simple words it means that plasma membrane only allow specific or selective substance to pass across itself.

    Plasma membrane generally allow non polar substances to pass through it but restrict the entry of polar substances and ions.

    But if the plasma losses its semipermesble nature then any molecule can enter the cell which is not needed or which can be toxic for the cell.

    As a result normal cellular homeostasis is being hampered and the cell dies.
