    Alpha linolenic acid (ALA)

    Explanation:

Alpha linolenic acid (ALA) is an essential fatty acids (derived mainly from diet). It's converted to Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in the Liver. The conversion of EPA and DHA from ALA can be derived in limited quantities I. e at a production rare of less the 15%. Hence, the need for it to be obtained in diet due to its lower rate of production from ALA.
