    The reason behind this is that the formula to obtain the area of a rectangle is L multiplied by W where L is the length and W width. Knowing this we can substitute the letters by the size of each representation, meaning L=6 W=4 we multiply them and we obtain 24 ft2. Because when the feet are multiplied they become square feet. Also, because it doesn't matter the spaces used in the direction of the cartesian plane the numbers in means or width and length are positive to obtain the measurement of the area.
