Decomposers are placed at the final or last stage of the food chain.

    Explanation:

Food chain is simply the network or stages of consuming organisms in a food web starting from producer organisms to the decomposers. Decomposers are responsible for breaking down of dead organisms at all trophic levels so that vital nutrients would be returned into the soil. Some examples are; fungi, bacteria, fungi, some insects, and snails etc.

Therefore, decomposers are placed at the last final stage of the food chain.

So you would place them at the end of the food chain since they eat the last organism when they die (e. g. grass-cows-human-decomposer)
