Some species of algae can potentially be farmed and used as biofuel. This would create a renewable, sustainable source of biofuel to use in place of fossil fuels. This is an example of an alternative energy source. This type of energy sources are those that are not popularly utilized unlike fossil fuels. These sources are environment friendly and readily available. Examples of these sources are solar, wind, tidal energy and biomass. The use of algae is under biomass. It is a material that is organic which comes from animals and plants. The energy being stored in these materials are from the sun. When these are being burned, the chemical energy possessed by these materials are being released in the form of heat energy.
