    Explanation: during the formation of egg, two polar bodies are formed. the primary polar body is formed when the primary oocyte divides by meiosis 1. the secondary polar body is formed after fertilization, when the second oocyte undergoes meiosis 2 to produce the ovum and the secondary polar body. both polar bodies are small cells which degenerates and thereby discarding the excess haploid set of chromosomes
