Explain how stem cells grow in a laboratory culture.

    1. Embryonic stem cells can grow into any type of cells. When cultured they grow in the Petri dish into a layer of embryonic cells. The embryonic cells are not determined.

    2. Induced adult stem cells are determined and when cultured, grow in the Petri dish as the cells of the organ from which they were derived. That is, if the cells were derived from the liver, they grow into liver cells.
