Earned media is free publicity for a company. Since the company provided such a good service to Daniel, he is willing to tell his friends to use that same company when they plan a trip. Before we used to call this word of mouth publicity but since people now are more involved with social media than actual personal relations, the term has changed to earned media or online word of mouth.

This type of publicity is by far the most effective since Daniel's friends know that he is being sincere and that he probably had a very good time during his trip. No type of paid advertisement can match that.
