    Cu + 2 H₂SO₄ = CuSO₄ + 2H₂O + SO₂.

    Explanation:

    Copper is a metal which is sitting just below the hydrogen in the reactivity series.

    When metallic copper is put in dilute sulphuric acid and the solution is heated, the solution forms a bluish gdiscoloration with evolution of a gas with smell of brunt sulphur.

    Its a redox reaction as the metallic copper gets oxidized to cupric ions and the sulphuric acid gets reduced to Sulphur dioxide gas.
