    2 NaAlH₄ (s) → 2 NaH (s) + 2 Al (s) + 3 H₂ (g)

    Explanation:

    Decomposition reaction -

It is the type of reaction, where one only one reactant and more than one products,

As, the reactant breaks down into two or more than products, the reaction me use some sort of catalyst or with the aid of heat and light to proceed, is known as a decomposition reaction.

The decomposition of NaAlH₄, can be done in the following manner -

generating, NaH and Al as the solid product and H₂ as the gaseous product,

    NaAlH₄ (s) → NaH (s) + Al (s) + H₂ (g)

The reaction can be balanced, simply by equalizing in the number of atoms in the reactant with the number of atoms in the product side, by multiplying the molecule with whole numbers.

Hence, the balanced reaction is given as -

    2 NaAlH₄ (s) → 2 NaH (s) + 2 Al (s) + 3 H₂ (g)
