A scientist is investigating the properties of two different biological membranes that have different amounts of cholesterol in them. Which of the following would accurately describe the membrane that has more cholesterol compared to the membrane with less cholesterol in it?

    The cholesterol has 2 main properties in cell membranes

    Explanation:

    The first one is that promotes the hydrophobicity, that is, the cell membranes turn more impermeable, so it will not allow to enter liquids, like the water.

    The other function of cholesterol is that with a high quantity of cholesterol in it, it makes that the cell membrane is not so fluid, reduces the flexibility of the oils in membranes, this is because the cholesterol is a bigger molecule in contrast with fatty acid.
