Is the following a properly written thermochemical equation? 2C8H18 + 25O2 → 16CO2 + 18H2O, ΔH = - 5,471 kJ/mol

    I believe the the equation is correctly expressed. The reaction above is a combustion reaction of octane. All of the combustion reaction is known to be exothermic reactions that is they release heat as the reaction proceeds. Consequently, they have negative enthalpies.
