According to the quantum-mechanical model of the atom established by shrödinger, where may the electrons of an atom be found?

    He stated that electrons are found in what we call the "electron cloud," a certain area within the atom that the electrons should be in most of the time.

    Previously, people had believed the Bohr model, which stated that electrons orbited around the nucleus in a nice, neat circle. Schrodinger realized that because of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, you couldn't know exactly where an electron was in an atom, so the model states that there are electron clouds where an electronic can be found 90% of the time. These are called orbitals, and there are four, the s, the p, the d, and the fact orbitals.
