    Option D. The temperature

    Explanation:

Average kinetic energy of a gas particle is temperature dependant this implies that an increase in temperature will cause the gas particles to gain more energy hence increasing the average kinetic energy. In contrast when a gas particle is allowed to cool (i. e decrease in temperature), the average kinetic energy of the gas particles will drop. So we can see that the average kinetic energy of gas is determined by the temperature.
