If 2-fluoropentane could undergo an e1 reaction, would you expect the major product to be the more stable alkene or the less stable alkene? explain your answer.

    There are two products of 2-fluoropentane E₁ reaction: 1-pentene (minor product) and 2-pentene (major product). 2-pentene is major product and more stable because he is most substituted product (Zaitsev's rule).

    Zaitsev's rule is an empirical rule for predicting the favored alkene product in elimination reactions.
