In a piece of aluminum you want to make a pocket (milling of cavities), an end mill tool of 6 mm in diameter and 4 cutting sides will be used, the height of the cutting sides of the tool is 25 mm. The feed that will be taken per tooth will be 0.00003 meters / tooth, and a linear feed rate of 2.4 mm / second. Calculate the cutting speed in mts / min.

    speed is 22.61 m/min

    Explanation:

    given data

    diameter D = 6 mm

    side z = 4

    height h = 25 mm

    feed f = 0.00003 meters / tooth = 0.03 mm / tooth

    feed rate of 2.4 mm / second

    to find out

    cutting speed

    solution

    we will apply here speed formula that is

    speed = π*D * N ... 1

    so we find d first here by feed rate formula

    feed rate = feed * z * N / 60

    put here value

    2.4 = 0.03 * 4 * N / 60

    N = 1200 rpm

    so from equation 1

    speed = π*D * N

    speed = π * 6 * 1200

    speed = 22619.46 mm/min

    so speed is 22.61 m/min
