    The speaker feels ashamed and is worried about others' judgement. Their consciousness on the matter is evident as they describe their own outfit in detail and begins to explicitly imagine the criticism of the other characters in the poem based on this appearance.

    The speaker is self-aware of their own social insecurity and they're also expressively open about it.
