    The Jungle by Upton Sinclair in 1906, profoundly impacted the food industry. The terrible conditions prescribed in the book led to the protest. The book sales gradually grew and spread awareness among the consumers which resulted in fall in meat sale. Therefore, the government passed The Pure Food and Drug Act, so that the government inspectors could investigate such plants. This act assured to gain consumer confidence and making it safe for them. It also intensified on taking legal action against any illegally labeled food.
