    Garrison talks about how he tried to set the slaves free and break the chain apart that was holding them captive. He gave the slaves courage that one day slavery will be over. One main criticism of Garrison is that he was trying to change the mind of the slave owners to release them from being captive. This was an important role in American history because he accomplished the end of slavery.
