    The correct answer is the first option. Every sentence in this paragraph starts with "The novel ... " This repetition does not only make the paragraph dry and boring, but also it causes the reader to forget or not understand the importance of each sentence on its own. In other words, it's difficult to remember the content within each sentence because they all start the same way.
