What do guidance counselors do in a high school?

Guidance Counselors are people that have the special job of comforting a student who is in a time a grief, pain, or rage. Their supposed to be a figurehead to the student. To lift them up in times of loneliness. Many people go to guidance counselors to consult with them or just to have a chat with someone and share things that make them feel comfortable.
