Homer was seen as an integral part of people's life at the time. After reading about his life, what are some of the reasons you believe that he was held in such high regard by the people of his time?

    Homer wrote about everyday things, those events that rich or poor suffer; he did not use flowery language like many other ancient writers; he wrote about and often created a "better History", as Virgil would later do with the Æneid.
