The correct answer is: c) Prospero teaches his language to Caliban and then uses it to communicate with him.

In the Tempest, when Prospero arrives at the island, he enslaves Caliban and attempts to civilize him by teaching him language. Once Caliban has learned the language, Prospero can give him tasks and issue orders (such as to carry the woods). He also uses language to punish Caliban and humiliate him by calling him 'thou lying slave', 'thing of darkness', or 'monster.' In the play, language is used as a means to assume dominance.
