    Explanation:

    Anaphora is a literary device which is basically a repetition of the first part of the sentence in order to induce a momentous sentimental effect. Lincoln used it so as to achieve a feeling that all of them who gathered for the speech, including Lincoln, are equal and together and to accentuate that soldiers who fought there are the ones who safeguarded the nation, not them who stand there.

    But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground.

    Epistrophe (antistrophe) is a literary device that presents repetition of the words or group of the words at the end of sentences (or successive clauses). It can be often found in political speeches. Lincoln used it to create empathy among people there and to remind them that endeavor of soldiers who fought there, even died for the country, will not be enough and that they have to contribute too for welfare in the future. Also, he wanted to stress out that people are the ones who make the American nation and that state works for all of them.

    It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us-that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion-that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain-that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
