Read the following excerpt from "Homecoming." Atsidi stood just outside his family's hogan in the heat of the early morning air and looked out across the vast landscape of shrubs that peppered the flat land of the reservation. In the distance, red rocks with shaved tops stood at attention. Behind them, a range of mountains wandered across the horizon as far as the eye could see. Atsidi looked for signs of movement; the horses and wagon wheels bearing his brother back home would signal their approach with clouds of dry, dusty, disturbed earth. Based on the excerpt, why is Atsidi standing outside the hogan? He needs to care for the horses. He has a lot of work to do. He has been told to wait outside. He wants to greet his brother.
