Lava first must flow from a volcano. After it is stationary or it loses enough heat, it cools and forms igneous rocks. How fast or slow this cooling takes determines what type of igneous rock it will be.

First the lava would flow out of the volcano from an eruption, then the molten material will cool and then the igneous rocks will form.
