    Answer: The Pacific Ocean

Explanation: The Pacific Ocean is the largest and deepest of Earth's oceanic divisions and it extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south and it is bounded by the continents of Asia and Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.

It has the largest division of the World Ocean and it covers about 46% of Earth's water surface and about one-third of its total surface area, making it larger than all of Earth's land area combined.

There are about 25,000 islands in the Pacific Ocean and the Islands are of four basic types: continental islands, high islands, coral reefs and uplifted coral platforms.

The Pacific is almost surrounded by subduction zones which makes it more complex to study its history.
