What was Russia's social structure in the 18th century

Russia's social structure in the 18th century was organized into different social classes that were recognized by the state: nobility, clergy, townspeople, functionaries, peasants and Cossacks.

These classes had different privileges and restrictions, and some of them also included subcategories, such as peasants, free peasants and serfs.

Additionally, Peter the Great introduced the Table of Ranks in 1722, which listed the different positions in the military, government and court of Imperial Russia.
