    The Korean war was an attempt by the communists to expand their borders & also a test by them of our resolve. Would we back-up our treaty with South Korea? They found out that we would. And a lot of good American soldiers died for no reason. As the individual in a communist society is not very valuable compared to the needs of the state, so the communists lost a large number of unimportant drones while the US lost thousands of important citizens. There were few changes in the geographical lines on the map, no change in the area's power base. The only major outcome was political
