What do you think Christopher Columbus' motives were in setting out to find a new route to Asia?

    Columbus motivation to find quicker and more economical way to sail to Asia stemmed from his desire to gain riches from participating in the trade of Asian luxury goods, and he also wanted his sponsor country of Spain to be able to engage more conveniently in the wealthy trade in Asia.
