    Answer: Slavery was institutionalized by the establishment of the nation in 1776 and was active until the Thirteenth Amendment was adopted in 1865.

    Explanation:

    In that time, millions of people have passed through the system of slavery. The most significant number of slaves was Africans and Afro-Americans. During the Civil War and shortly after the end of the war, various movements aimed at the abolition of slavery developed. Slavery in the country was much more pronounced in the southern parts where there were substantial cotton plantations on which a large number of slaves worked. Unlike in the south, the industry was developing in the north so that there was no demand for slave labour.
