The correct answer is number 1) legislative and executive branches.

A presidential government is based on the relationship between the following two branches of government: legislative and executive branches.

The President represents the executive branch of the government and has a permanent relationship with the legislative, that is the Congress. In the case of the United States, the legislative has two chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Both branches create laws and the President has to sign the laws for approval or can exert his power of veto. The third and final branch of the government is the Judicial branch.
