Why was terraced farming such an important development for the Chavin and later Andean cultures?

Terraced farming became an important part of Chavin and Andes culture. It became an early system of irrigation which made an early solution to upgrade farming practices.

It has been enjoyed by the succeeding generations and had used this as an agricultural technique brought by their ancestors.
