Why is the Dred Scott decision regarded as one of the most important cases in the history of the supreme court

    Deed Scott who lived in a free state and territory which meant slaves were prohibited was not entitled to his own freedom. " African Americans can never be citizens" this pushed the country one step closer to civil war.
