Jamestown was the first permanent English colony founded in North America. It differed in many ways, one was that it gave England its first headquarters for the European competition for the new world. Christopher Columbus had already dominated parts of it by discovering new places.

    Explanation:

James I had given the charter to explore the Jamestown colony. The main purpose of this colony to settle here was to find gold and silver and find the route to pacific ocean to trade with the orients.

Anyone who found gold and silver especially the investors would be rewarded by James I.
