There are a few explanations for the reason that Dallas TX has a higher yearly average temperature than Chicago. Dallas, TX is located closer to the Equator than Chicago, IL. Also, Chicago is located close to the Great Lakes and this cools the temperature there. Texas is located near the Gulf of Mexico but Dallas, TX is located in North Texas which is surrounded by land and no water.
