    Answer: D. The declaration abolished the three estates. Explanation: The Declaration of the Rights of Man was one of the biggest achievements of the French Revolution. It was also one of the bases of their first constitution. The Declaration of the Rights of Man ended the priviliges in which the Ancien Régime was based. During the Ancien Régime people was clasified into three estates: 1) the First Estate (clergy). 2) the Second Estate (nobility). 3) the Third Estate (commoners / peasants and bourgeoisie). The two first estates didn't pay any taxes and the peasants of the Third Estate had to pay 10% of their harvest to the church (First Estate). Also the nobility (Second Estate) owned the lands where the peasants worked and received a tribute from the use of them. The two first estates represented only 3% of the french population.
