The new black codes were restricted laws to African Americans that were passed by Southern states after the Civil War in 1865 and 1866 to ensure a cheap labor force and white supremacy because slavery had been removed.

    Answer:

Marry by law. (Only between African Americans, a marriage between a "white" person and an African American was not valid). Swear out affidavits in criminal cases. Go to school (In some states they could study but on separate schools). Testify as witnesses during a trial (never against a white man) Sue or be sued in civil courts (they had limited access to separate courts).
