The articles of confederation needed to be revamped. Why? What were its problems?

The framers of the constitution believed that the Articles of Confederation needed to be rewritten because they believed that it did not create a system of government that would be sustainable and provide for the needs of the newly created United States. Previous problems with the Articles were that it did not give the national government the ability to levy taxes, provide for the national defense, settle interstate disputes, and other major issues of governance.
